A study of color description and cognition

Abstract

Color is used as one of the most important factors that drive and direct people's daily lives. Different colors represent different color cognition or perception. Literature review showed that a domestic color cognition study for Taiwan citizens is needed. Firstly, the study conducted a literature view and a focused group to generate a comprehensive set of color descriptions, 26 color cognition adjectives. Meanwhile, the technology of 'color management', to remain color fidelity, and the color model of 'web color', to have appropriate color variations, was adopted in the color description and cognition survey. Finally, an in-depth statistical and graphical analysis regarding to every color description was finished.
