Abstract

A K-band transformer-feedback voltage-controlled oscillator (TF-VCO) is implemented in 90 nm CMOS process and covers the frequency range from 19.39 GHz to 19.99 GHz. Utilizing the complementary cross-coupled structure and transformer-feedback technique, the VCO achieves low phase noise with low power consumption. The measured 1-MHz frequency offset phase noise is -95.37 dBc/Hz at 19.99 GHz and the dc power consumption is 1 mW.
