Abstract

A K-band low-phase-error and variable gain 5-bit switch-type phase shifter for phased-array antenna applications has been designed and fabricated on 180-m CMOS process. The measured gain for all 32 states is 5.6 ± 1.5 dB from 16.8 to 20.3 GHz. The phase shifter achieves a RMS phase error of 4.1° and a RMS amplitude error of 0.5 dB at 19GHz, which is suitable for high precision applications.
