Abstract
Based on distributed artificial intelligence technology, the paper proposes a distributed expert system for analyzing system stability. The developed expert system is a multi-agent system, each processing agent of which can compute autonomously and cooperate with other agents to reason an accurate and satisfactory solution for stability analysis. In addition, a two-level control mechanism composed of local-control and meta-control is also proposed to achieve a high degree of goodness in analyzing system stability in this issue. To demonstrate its effect, the distributed expert system has been tested of practical data. Test results indicate that the distributed expert system will be a valuable part of help desk to assist system analysts in making decision.
