Abstract

A 12 GHz low phase error and low amplitude error digital 6-bit switch-type phase shifter for phased-array antenna applications has been designed and fabricated on 0.15 μm GaAs pHEMT process. The measured insertion loss for all 64 states is 9 ± 1.5 dB from 11.5 to 13 GHz. The phase shifter achieves a rms phase error of 2.5° and a rms amplitude error of 0.65 dB at 12 GHz, which is suitable for high precision applications.
