Description
This project takes Chen Hong-mou’s Classical prose detailed explanation as a research model, and comparison with the Classical prose criticism at the early Qing dynasty, also discusses on overall aspects in the annotation. Based upon his wording in the annotation, it accordingly can be judged by means of the process of his textual reception, and combination which leads to critical inquiries as follows: which annotations he imitates his exegetical predecessors, and which ones are his own new interpretations, and which previous comments have no inheritance, which ones influence upon later annotators, etc. My discussion runs through the perspective of analytical linguistics, and his textual coherence as a representation so as to discuss in what way in his textual exegesis, and so as to integrate, and generalize his modes of annotation, visit Confucian ideas in the comments text, and ideas of annotation as a possible ground for Classical Chinese comprehension to later readers.
