Description

The attributes of context-awareness enable learners acquiring learning information from the real context. Research has also indicated that pervasive gaming effectively motivates learners in exploring local cultures. This study constructed a context-aware pervasive game that allows learners to collaboratively explore Taiwan’s railroad history. A three-step process, environmental exploration, narratives, and problem solving, is included in this game. The gaming system was built on Android platform, incorporating with a cloud server that achieves instant interactions among players. ADDIE process was employed to ensure the quality of the gaming system. Quantitative data exhibit that the overall learning achievement after gameplay is significant. Questionnaire and interviewing data also reveal an overall positive feedback. The system is still modifying according to user suggestions, and learner’s self-efficacy and presence in the gameplay are going to investigate in 2018’s project (MOST 107-2511-H-003-028 -).
