Project Details
Description
Our project mainly screens novel Chinese herbal medicines for dementia and investigates their neuroprotection physiological and molecular mechanisms. In first year, we have evaluated the anti-aggregation effects of Chinese herbal medicines (provided by Sun Ten Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.) by examining their effects on Aβ/tau aggregation, cell survival, apoptosis and neurite outgrowth by analyzing digital holographic imaging of living SH-SY5Y cell. In next year, we will use AD transgenic drosophila and mouse model to study efficacy of potential CHMs for AD in vivo. The CHMs that effectively inhibit the Aβ/tau aggregates formation will be evaluated for protective effects against ER stress, excitotoxicity, inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis. In the third year, on the basis of the previous two years of research, several SCI journal papers were published one after another, and the patent application is now ready for industry technology transfer applications. The results of this project are expected to be used in clinical research and have great market development value.
