Description

Geography as a subject in various school levels has unique status to enable students with the fundamental knowledge and skills for their future career. The current project, which includes two major competitions with four tests, is successfully completed. The 16th Taiwan Geography Olympiad (2017 tGeo), for students of age 16-19, include a project-based and an individual-based competition. The 13th Taiwan National Geographic Championship (2017 TNGC), for students of age 10-15, consists of three-stage tests, which focus on open-ended questions and hands-on activities. As a whole, more than 450 primary and junior high schools and 70 senior high schools signed up. In 2017 International Geography Olympiad, talented and highly motivated Taiwanese students won two gold medals and one silver medal. TGeo and TNGC has received very positive feedback from school teachers and parents and will continuously stimulate the practice of the fieldwork, issue discussion and project-based learning into geography teaching.
