Project Details
Description
This project mainly researches the palace architecture problem in “Zuo Zhuan”. The palace architecture materials in “Zuo Zhuan” are abundant, which is quite helpful to understand the palace architecture and structure in the Spring and Autumn Period. However, when the academic circles researched “Zuo Zhuan” in the past, the focus was not in the palace architecture aspect. And when the researchers study the palace architecture, they usually proceed with “Li” (the Three Rituals), but few takes “Zuo Zhuan” as the research core. I once studied the problem of “Guo (Outer City Wall)” and “Fu (Great Outer City Wall)” in “Zuo Zhuan”; after clarifying the city wall problem of “Guo (Outer City Wall)” and “Fu (Great Outer City Wall)” in “Zuo Zhuan”, I feel there are many unclear points for the palace architecture within the city wall. When the scholars quote the palace architecture materials, there are many differences in their statements. For example, for “Guantai (observation platform)” in (Fifth Year Ruled by Duke Xi), someone thinks this platform was located within the hall, while someone thinks it was the same with “Liangguan (two watchtowers)” in(Second Year Ruled by Duke Ding), which one is reasonable? And there are many suchlike disputes; thus, this project shall further clarify these problems.
