Description

In line with the New Southbound Policy, School of Life Sciences of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) plans to cooperate with Discovery Culture Co., Ltd. to jointly produce an ecological documentary entitled "New Southbound Discovery- Finding Taiwan's Biodiversity From South Islands ". Taiwan, located at the boundary of the plate and collided with the Eurasia plate by the Philippine Sea Plate, forms many unique terrains and diverse climate habitats. Outstanding biogeographer Wallace draws a so-called "Wallace line" among Malaysia, the Indonesian archipelago, and Australia. The Japanese biologist Tadao Kano advocated it should extend to northward among Taiwan Island and Orchid Island, Green Island. Nowadays, scientists have already agreed that many species of special animals in Taiwan should be formed from Philippines by moving northward through the Kuroshio. Those Taiwan mammals came from the South island may be the small mammals on Lanyu and flying fox on Green Island, and sika deer, clouded leopard, macaque, and leopard cat on Taiwan Island. In view of the biodiversity of Taiwan has the close relationship with the ASEAN, South Asia, New Zealand and Australia countries, our project hopes to strengthen the academic cooperation between Taiwan and New Southbound Universities and Institutions through documenting the ecological conservation between Taiwan and the New Southbound countries. Six units are expected to shoot: (I) look for the invisible wall of the ocean, (II) the message from the Kuroshio, (III) the butterfly encounter between the South Islands and Taiwan, (IV) the fantasy drift of the ball back weevil, and (V) Fate of mammals of Taiwan, Through the high-quality film, the goal of cultural exchanges between Taiwan and these the New Southbound countries will eventually be reached. The filming of Taiwan and Orchid Island has been completed, and the plan is to go to the Philippines and Malaysia to shoot the ecological documentary "Discover the South of the Border-Seeing Taiwan's Biodiversity from the South Island". However, due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the filming abroad The plan has been confirmed to be cancelled. The expenses for going abroad have been applied to be converted into business expenses.
