Description
The second year of the project "Infusing environmental values into PM2.5 prevention animation educational intervention for junior high school students" had accomplished the following works. Four junior high schools in Taipei, Taoyaun, and ChangHua were selected for teaching experiment. A total of 798 students in 30 classes participated this experiment. Students were divided into "Animation group", "PPT teaching group" and "control group" for students without intervention. A questionnaire (PM2.5 knowledge, attitude, environmental sensitivity, and behavior intention for junior high students) was applied in pre-test and post-test during education intervention. A total of 656 and 698 effective samples were collected for pre-test and post-test with 82.2% and 87.5% recovery rate, respectively. SPSS 23.0 was used for data analysis. We found that students in the Animation group had significant improvement in PM2.5 knowledge, attitude, environmental sensitivity and behavior intention, while students in the PPT teaching group had significant improvement in PM2.5 knowledge only, and the control group remained unchanged. These results revealed that the way of teaching may be more important than what you teach in class in affective education.
