Taiwan has suffered from an inexhaustible number of deadly typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis and other natural disasters. Disaster education is regarded as one of major issues introduced into the curriculum design. However, because some of the principles and phenomena related to natural disasters are complex, students often feel puzzled, lower motivation while studying the topics. Game are popular and usually can deal with very wide variety of subjects. Previous studies revealed that game were a power instrument for improving interest and performance. In the proposed project, we aim to create Disasters Risk Reduction game for science popularization. We also try to systemic evaluate the effectiveness of the Natural Disaster Prevention game in players’ science literacy, such as disasters prevention knowledge, attitude toward disaster science, and etc. Major findings of this study include that those subjects who played the board game to be engaged and to gain significantly more knowledge, learning motivation, and can perceived uncertainties of meteorological forecast than those students who received regular group?collaborative instruction.
