Project Details
Description
For all electronics products, the electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection design must be provided. However, the ESD protection in high-speed wireless and wireline communication devices causes circuit performance degradation with several undesired effects. Conventional ESD protection devices with large dimensions have the parasitic capacitance which is too large to be tolerated for the high-speed circuits. As the circuit operating frequencies increase, the ESD protection designs for high-speed circuits will continuously be an important design task. Several novel ESD protection designs for 20Gb/s and 40 Gb/s high-speed applications have been developed in this project. The real high-speed circuits with the ESD protection designs will then be studied. Once the circuits and systems have perfect ESD protection ability, the electronics products can have the useful value and competitiveness in the market.
