In recent years, learning Chinese in the world has become the hot issue. Due to the development of digital technology and the impact of the COVID-19, digital learning has been continuously valued and discussed. Whether the teaching effectiveness of digital learning is different from that of face-to-face classroom teaching is an issue of great importance in the field of language learning. In the Chinese language teaching, the learning of Chinese characters has always been a difficult point for learners of Chinese as a foreign language due to factors such as complex structures. Teaching sequence and textbook design, to explore the effectiveness of Chinese character learning in character family teaching and non-character teaching, in order to provide empirical evidence for the construction of teaching theories and teaching materials for foreign Chinese character teaching. The research design is a two-factor design of 2 (teaching method: digital platform, classroom teaching) X2 (character types: character family, general character). The results of the study showed that there was no significant difference in the performance of Chinese character learning between the two groups of online learning and classroom learning, indicating that online learning can achieve good teaching results consistent with classroom teaching with good teaching interaction. In comparison between character family teaching and general character teaching, the Chinese character test of the character family teaching group is significantly better than the general character teaching group.
