Description
The study intended to develop a CKD health management robot and complete the analysis of commercialization. This study is a two-year study and the current progress report emphasizes on the results in the first year. By applying the framework of Design Thinking, patients’ care needs were assessed by interviewing them to understand their views on health management and technology acceptance. The design factors were transformed according to the result of need assessment and Dr. Kidney was made based on the derived design factors. The interviews were transcribed to produce qualitative data for content analysis and text mining. Five themes of content analysis are summarized as follows: 1.Important elements of caring chronic kidney disease; 2.Diet management is difficult to adherence; 3.Dylysis becomes the lifeline of life-saving and interactive communication; 4. Mobile application can improve personal learning efficiency; 5. Through application, interactive empowerment was beneficial to internalization of health behavior. High frequency words were identified by text mining and were classified into seven categories: 1.Daily life care; 2.Clinical symptoms; 3.Tracking and recording; 4.Diet control; 5.Exercise; 6. Medical treatment; 7.Emotion. The CKD health management system was developed by the multi- disciplinary team based on the results of needs assessment, which were converted into design factors of developing Dr. Kidney. A series of applications (APPs) were constructed including: membership management APP (user personalization, manager problem processing and data management), self-monitoring APP (Use health resume to track clinical examinations, use designed tests to self-assess mental and social health status), fun information APP (use the interactive games to strengthen the concept of self-care), achievement tracking system (use task calendar to record the completion of various activities), action incentive APP (encourage statements to enhance motivation, system tokens to stimulate task execution behavior, and to encourage positive reactions), skill demonstration APP (to use the health education theater to show the steps of nursing skills, and to use the kidney protection exercise to demonstrate a simple physical activities), question answering APP (chatbot Q & A, matters needing attention in treatment, medication classroom), extended resource APP (internet link to external resources). The usability test of Dr. Kidney robot will be implemented in August. Besides the care of medical system, health management practices of the elderly with CKD at home is very important. The Dr. Kidney robot can complement the care of the medical system.
