從「家庭」到「社會」連帶--家庭的代間關係與福利態度取向之關聯

In ageing societies the increasing old-age dependency ratio puts welfare states under rising financial pressure. Simultaneously, families with fewer children are faced with higher financial and caring responsibilities for their old-aged members. It is important to notice that demographic trends can also influence intergenerational solidarity both privately in the family and publicly in society. There is a considerable body of empirical research on intergenerational solidarity in the family and in the society at large, but far less research about the relationships between them. Data are taken from the Taiwan Social Change Survey. This study has two goals: first, based on the intergenerational solidarity model (Bengtson and Roberts 1991) and focus on the non-co-residing adult children, we use latent class analysis (LCA) to examine a typology of intergenerational relations between adult children and parents. Second, we examine the opinion about the proper division of responsibility between the family and the welfare state. Finally, we analyze the relationships between intergenerational family solidarity and the attitudes towards social welfare.
