They speak a dialect that closely resembles Minnan language in the Hailu region 500-600 km away from the Fujian Minnan region. This is related to the ancestral home structure of the residents of Hailu region. In the Hailu region of the Qing Dynasty, whether it was southern Fujian or the Hakka group, its immigration process was related to the chaos of the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties , the "guarding system" implemented in the early Ming. The event of mining rebellion happened in the Jikang Du of Lufeng in the late Ming. And the Evacuation policy for coastal residents in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The historical processes of the above four key periods are closely related. The immigrants from southern and southwestern Fujian have experienced four to six hundred years of multiplication. They are rooted in the Hailu region, shaping the regional distribution characteristics of the two ethnic groups in Lufeng region. The Hailu region divided into two dialects region Hakka in the northern area and Minnan in the southern area. The military place names of these two regions can quite reflect the borders of Hakka and Minnan in the Hailu region.
