The purpose of the study examined the mechanisms beyond the relationship between protean career attitude and innovative work behavior by investigating the mediating roles of learning goal orientation and cultural intelligence. 312 self-initiated expatriates working in Taiwan was collected by using paper-based or online questionnaires for the convenience. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to examine the results of the relationships. The results demonstrated that both of learning goal orientation and cultural intelligence were partially mediated the relationship between protean career attitude and innovative work behavior. These findings extended the theoretical contribution, future research directions, and practical guidelines for HRD conclude the fields of expatriation and career studies.
