Project Details
Description
1976–1992, PDO and ENSO match each other in strength and neutralize effects on the WSCA. 1993–2009, WSCA matches PDO well. Prior to the 1976 climate shift, WSCA is closely related to ENSO. Results show that Rossby waves could be triggered in either the negative PDO when ENSO dominates or in the positive PDO when ENSO is overshadowed. In the phase when the positive PDO counteracts ENSO, neither ENSO nor PDO has a significant influence on Rossby waves generated through WSCA.
