Description
This project was aimed to make up the science learning gap for the indigenous students living in remote rural area by providing a series of creative learning activities, in which the so-called “ARCS motivation model” teaching strategy was adopted to develop an intelligent robot curriculum suitable for the indigenous students. The design and development of the intelligent robot curriculum was based upon the culture background of the indigenous students in an attempt to promote their science learning interest, and complex problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. The participants of this project were the students from Nan-Oau Senior High School in Yi-Lan County. During the development of the curriculum, course evaluation was constantly performed through qualitative method as well as quantitative method. The evaluation results were also utilized for the improvement of curriculum and teaching strategy. In addition to the research part, this project also supported the main project for all the promotion activities, including seminars and forums for indigenous seed teachers, summer camps and so on, in order to promote the curriculum and teaching strategy developed from this project to other indigenous schools.
