Description

There are seven instruments served in the Instrumentation Center at National Taiwan Normal University, including Bruker Avance III-600 MHz NMR, JEOL JMS-700 EI-HRMS, D8 Venture X-ray, Confocal, Bruker D8 Powder X-ray, ESI-HRMS and Electron Magnetic Resonance. Every instrument is organized by one professor and full-time operator. The brief of each instrument is listed below. The Bruker Avance III-600 MHz NMR is mainly serve for outside universities and industrial companies, over 80%. We expect to serve more academic institutes and industrial companies. The JEOL JMS-700 EI-HRMS instrument joined our instrumentation center and started to provide service since April 1st, 2015, assisted from the funding of MOST and NTNU. This instrument provides two ionization methods (EI and FAB) for the measurement in order to serve more users in the academic and industrial communities. The D8 Venture X-ray instrument had the total amount over 3000 samples, in which over 60% samples came from outside universities and industrial companies in the period from 2013 to 2015. The productivity decline slightly due to the aging of instrument, which was operated over 13 years. With the assistance from MOST, the instrument is renovated. The present setup has the newest dual target system, which significantly improved the productivity of the instrument. The Confocal was renewed in 2015, thanking for the funding from MOST (9 million NT dollars). The renewed instrument started for the service in 2016. We expect the users will steady increased, the outside service can raise and the usability of the instrument becomes broader to significantly promote the productivity of the instrument. The Bruker D8 power X-ray was setup in 2004 and serviced over 15 years continuously. Some parts are aging that causes uncertain malfunction or system halt. The instability results a lot of inconvenience and delay the sample measurement dramatically. We consider the replacement for the instrument for better improving the service of the instrument. The ESI-HRMS (model: QSTARR XL) started for the service since 2015 (January). The instrument is equipped with unstopped power system and maintained with all-day air condition. The instrument is placed in the room (A306) with well controlled the temperature, humidity and cleanliness to avoid the damage of instrument and contamination of sample. Electron Magnetic Resonance can be utilized with X-ray diffractor, high-resolution mass spectroscopy, NMR and other instruments to further promote our service and research applications.
