In this project, we propose a reversible data hiding and lossless compression technique for the applications of medical images. We improve the performance of previous data hiding techniques. The proposed method not only can increase the hiding capacity, but also can improve the image quality of embedded image. On the aspect of hiding capacity, the previous methods can achieve 0.48 bpp while our method can achieve 0.83 bpp. On the aspect of embedded image quality, our method outperforms the previous methods in PSNR about 1 to 2 dB. Furthermore, considering the transmission speed of medical images, we integrate JPEG XR compression technique to the hiding method to reduce the size of transmission data and implement the patient data hiding. In addition, we develop an App, so that a doctor can use the same system by using either a tablet or a cellular phone. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective and has satisfactory results.
