The wireless communication ICs are very sensitive to the electrostatic discharge (ESD). The ESD protection circuits need to be added into ICs to protect the ESD-sensitive transistors. Besides, the ESD protection circuits can not degrade the radio-frequency performances. To enhance the ESD robustness of wireless communication ICs in both component and system levels, this project will develop the novel ESD protection techniques. An ESD protection circuit for GHz applications will be designed, and the ESD protection capabilities will be verified with the transceiver circuits. The ESD protection designs for wireless communication ICs will continuously be an important task to enhance the product reliability.
